Our 14 rooms have been individually designed in a contemporary style with a high level of comfort. Each room is unique, decorated by very large photo artwork. Deep yourself in a traditional atmosphere where our concept open the door into a out of the blue universe.

As always, we are committed to our environment. We have inverter technology air conditioning, solar hot water, Led lighting, CFC free minibars, organic linen and bathroom amenities and to minimize the consumption of plastic, free purified dynamised water is freely served in a glass bottle and is safe to drink.


Chola Restaurant

We have a spectacular rooftop location with a stunning view on the palace. The restaurant is the social meeting point at Tanjore Hi, and we encourage people to meet and interact with each other. We aim at providing our guests with the best organic vegetables and fruits, which is the reason behind the creation of our 2 ecological farms certified Organic by IMO Swistzerland. One is located in Pondicherry at Dune Eco Village & Spa and the other in the Palani hills close to Kodaikanal at Elephant Valley Eco Farm Hotel. Our food is made-to-order, using as many fresh and organic products as possible. All the bread, jam and pastries are home-made. We don’t use any canned product or ready made frozen dish, absolutely no Glutamate nor chemical colors and other taste enhancers. The Chola restaurant also promotes healthy, Ayurvedic, Low Carb, Vegan and Gluten free food. Our chef loves new ideas, so you are more than welcome to teach him, or learn a new recipe. Feel free to speak to him for special meal requests; we always do our best to cater to your needs.


Arts and Culture

Under the Maratha rule, in the 18th & 19th centuries Tanjore became a major cultural centre. Thanjavur is a major political, literary and religious centre of south India and is known particularly for its contribution to Carnatic music; it has produced many eminent classical musicians and Bharathanatyam dancers. Tanjore is well known for bronze sculptures and its unique painting style called Tanjore Painting, a percussion instrument called the Thavil, a divine classical string instrument Veenai and the Bobblehead Thanjavur Dolls. Just 40 km away from Tanjore is Kumbakonam known as “Temple Town” due to the high number of temples here. It is known for its Mahamaham festival that attracts people from all over the globe. Darasuram, just 3 km from Kumbakonam is known for the Airavateswara temple constructed by the Rajaraja Chola II in the 12th century AD. The temple is a recognized a UNESCO World Heritage monument.

Around Tanjore Hi

Thanjavur is famous for the Brahadishwara Temple built by Rajaraja Chola during the 11th century. The Brahadishwara Temple, also known as the Big Temple is one of India’s most spectacular temples and is a UNESCO World Heritage Sites. There are several historical sites including the Vijayanagara Fort, containing a palace that was expanded by the Maratha King Serfoji II with an armoury, a bell tower, a Governement museum and the private museum of the Prince and the Saraswathi Mahal Library which has over 30,000 Indian and European manuscripts written on palm leaf and paper. Also built by Serfoji II is the Manora Fort, a monumental tower, situated about 65 km away from Thanjavur.
